ILLUMINA - An Oh Flora Destination Workshop in Mexico City
Finally sharing this incredibly colourful, lively and unique floral design experience we hosted in Mexico City last March.
We had 15 ladies from all over the world come together to learn, grow and celebrate!
Destination workshops are a lot of work but oh so fun and fulfilling when it all comes together.
We have all different ages and levels of experience attend from absolute beginner to owning and running a shop and working in the flower industry for over 20 years!
One of the main things I hear from our attendees on why they want to come along is “an inspiration”. Is there anything better than being outside your comfort zone, in a new city, among like minded people, learning and designing together? I think not! It’s an uplifting inspiration boost for your soul, designs and business dreams!
We spent 4 days exploring the city, designing dreamy florals, visiting markets, eating A LOT and we topped it all off with a fabulous dinner party in the heart of Roma Norte while sipping real margaritas, eating tacos, devouring cheese wheels & seat dancing along to THE most fabulous mariachi band!
The biggest thanks in the world to my incredible team in bringing this one together with me and supporting our attendees! And an even bigger thank you to my girl Jime from Floweriize for helping us host and organise ILLUMINA.
I really hope we can go back one day soon and host another in this magical and unique country - I LOVE MEXICO and oh do I wish I spoke español!
We did our market pick up the day before the workshop started to have everything ready in time - lots of processing to me done!
On our first day meeting the attendees we met for a couple of glasses of rosé and headed off to check out the plant market.
Then onto the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco
Each attendee received a gift basket full of fun things & useful tools. The baskets were custom made for the workshop!

This heavenly dress by Emily Riggs couldn’t have been more perfect for the occasion!
After we were finished installation our dinner party florals and dressing up our fab table our attendees headed back to their hotels for a couple hours of R&R and came up: GOLDEN HOUR style (our dresscode)
And in came the mariachi, servers with margarita jugs, cheese wheels & taco bar…
